2 Mass. Police Officers Seriously Injured in Funeral Escort Crash

Waltham police are investigating a "major motor vehicle crash" involving a pair of officers on motorcycles who were seriously injured while providing a funeral escort.

A pair of Massachusetts police officers were seriously injured while escorting a funeral in Waltham on Thursday morning.
The two Waltham police officers were operating department motorcycles during the funeral escort, according to Waltham Police Department. Police said the two officers crashed on their motorcycles around 10:35 a.m. in the middle of the funeral escort.
The officers suffered serious injuries and have been taken to a local Waltham hospital for treatment.
The Waltham police officers are expected to survive, according to NBC Boston. No other injuries have been reported from the crash.
Waltham police have closed the Main Street area from Hill Road to Market Place Drive as authorities investigate what they consider to be a “major motor vehicle crash.”
Commuters in the Waltham Main Street area are encouraged to find an alternative route.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
